1. A Montana Morning on Hound Creek

Date / Location: Montana – June 2025

The sun rose over pine-covered hills, casting golden light on the crystal waters of Hound Creek. Today, we chased wild brown trout, each cast a delicate balance of timing and intuition. Moments like these remind me why I fell in love with Montana—its quiet, its wildlife, and the sense of being in a place untouched by the ordinary. Sharing this with friends and clients is what makes every trip unforgettable.

2. Chasing Bonefish in Cuba’s Hidden Flats

Date / Location: Cuba – March 2025

The water shimmered like glass as the first light hit the flats. Bonefish streaked beneath the surface, elusive and quick, while the distant hum of Cuban life reminded me of the richness of this place. Guiding clients here has been a privilege for over 20 years—each trip blending culture, adventure, and fishing in a way that few places can match. From the laughter of a successful cast to quiet moments watching the tides, Cuba never fails to inspire.

3. Summer Salmon on Norway’s Rivers

Date / Location: Norway – July 2024

There’s nothing like standing knee-deep in a legendary Norwegian river, waiting for the telltale rise of an Atlantic salmon. The summer light stretches endlessly across the landscape, painting the fjords and forests in brilliant color. Over the years, I’ve guided groups here who’ve never experienced anything like it—the thrill of the catch, the camaraderie, and the awe of nature. Norway is more than a destination; it’s a reminder of what makes adventure unforgettable.

4. Patagonia: The Edge of the World

Patagonia is raw, wild, and breathtaking. From remote rivers teeming with trout to the vast, windswept landscapes, every day here feels like stepping into another world. It’s a place that tests your spirit, rewards patience, and leaves a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to experience it.

5. Exploring the Fjords of Chile – A Mothership Adventure

Exploring the Fjords of Chile – A Mothership Adventure
Nearly 20 years ago, I had the rare opportunity to join an expedition with Nomads of the Seas, a pioneering company based in Chile. Their concept was unlike anything I had experienced before: a mothership adventure designed to explore the untouched fjords of Patagonia in search of waters that had likely never seen an angler.

Each day was a true expedition. We used jet boats, rafts, drift boats, and even a helicopter to access remote rivers and hidden stretches of water. The fishing was extraordinary—vast, unpressured, and full of mystery. The outfitter was charting new territory, and each cast felt like the first one ever made in that place.

It was an adventure that blended exploration, discovery, and world-class fishing in one of the most breathtaking regions on earth. I was fortunate enough to share the experience in the pages of Wild on the Fly Travel Journal and the Robb Report, but the memories of that journey—of Patagonia’s raw beauty and untouched waters—remain vivid to this day.

6. Stalking Cubera Snapper on Andros Island

talking Cubera Snapper on Andros Island
One of the more unique adventures I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing took place on Andros Island in the Bahamas, where I set out to stalk the elusive cubera snapper in an inland lagoon. The journey itself was half the adventure—a long boat ride out from Tranquility Hill Lodge, followed by a hike through the island’s rugged landscape, until we finally arrived at the fabled Dressing Room Lake.

This expansive, landlocked lagoon was a hidden world teeming with life. Within its waters swam tarpon, jacks, permit, and the powerful cubera snapper—fish that had been cut off from the sea for who knows how many years. Fishing there felt like stepping back in time.

We fished from a small, weathered wooden boat—complete with a slow leak—guided by my good friend Dwayne Neymour, whose knowledge and sense of humor made the entire experience unforgettable. The combination of raw adventure, exploration, and world-class fishing in such a remote setting made it a journey I’ll always remember.
